A beautiful princess and powerful sorceress who long ago lived away at the North, before Oz came to rule the land. All her magic was used to help the people, and she was never known to hurt anyone who was good. Unable to find a man worthy of her, she raised a handsome, wise boy named Quelala with her magic to be her husband. When the Winged Monkeys ruined his wedding clothes by ducking him in a river, she angrily bound them by her power to obey the owner of the Golden Cap three times forever after.
