The Scoodlers' cave is a low, dome-shaped mountain of rock reached across a narrow bridge over a bottomless gulf; inside is an immense hollow dome lit by holes in the roof, ringed with tiny rock houses and centered on a huge iron soup kettle hung over kindling, where the Scoodlers hold and threaten to cook their captives.
